‘Saboteurs’ strike Russia ally as insane video ‘shows train attacked’ | World | News
A video has shown the aftermath of what is reported to have been an attack by “saboteurs” on a train in a blow to one of Russia‘s key allies.
The shocking clip from Belarusian authorities shows a locomotive engulfed in flames as people try and dowse the fire.
A caption on X read: “Belarusian partisans stopped and burned a train.” The footage was reposted, and @JayinKyiv – who says he is an ‘American in Ukraine‘ – wrote: “Partisans in Belarus stopped then burned a train last night.”
Belarus is one of Russian President Vladimir Putin‘s key allies.
The Kyiv Independent reports that Belarus hosted Russian troops, served as a “launchpad” for Russian missile attacks against Ukraine and has supplied weapons to the Kremlin.
In February, the Moscow Times reported that a number of Ukrainian and Belarusian “saboteurs” were captured near the border with Ukraine.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said at the time: “Ukrainian citizens were crawling across our border, transferring explosives to commit sabotage primarily on the territory of Russia and Belarus.”
He added: “All saboteurs have been detained, Belarusians were among them.”
In October, a court in Minsk – the capital of Belarus – sentenced 12 people to prison terms of between two and 25 years for helping commit what Belarus has called an ‘act of terrorism’ at a military airfield in 2023.
Reuters reports that a group of Belarusian “anti-government activists” said in February 2023 that they had ‘blown up a sophisticated Russian military surveillance aircraft’ in a drone attack.
