Last chance to watch greatest World War II film ever before leaving Amazon Prime | Films | Entertainment

Over the decades, there have been so many incredible World War II films covering every aspect and angle of the most deadly conflict in human history.

But according to IMDb fan rankings, the very best action movie in the genre is an Oscar-winning classic.

Upon its release in 1998, World War II veterans found Saving Private Ryan’s combat scenes, including the opening sequence of D-Day, incredibly realistic of their own experiences.

In fact, some of the war heroes found it so visceral that they could not continue watching.

The movie features an incredible cast of future A-listers, including Vin Diesel, Bryan Cranston, Nathan Fillion and Paul Giamatti.

Following its success, Spielberg and Hanks created the incredible miniseries Band of Brothers, which followed the 101st Airborne through the war. This has been followed up by The Pacific and, most recently, Masters of the Air.

Saving Private Ryan leaving Amazon Prime Video in 14 days.
