A helicopter crashed in the Hudson River in New York, killing six people, the Associated Press reports. The horrific accident took place at 3.17pm local time on Thursday, April 10, with two adults and three children from Spain on board, as well as a pilot.
Rescue efforts are underway after the helicopter plummeted down near Pier 40. Emergency services flocked to the scene with vehicles on both sides of the river. A police helicopter was also scrambled to the area of the incident. In a statement on X, the NYPD said: “Due to a helicopter crash in the Hudson River, in the vicinity of the West Side Highway and Spring Street, expect emergency vehicles and traffic delays in the surrounding areas.”
