After all, the warmer months are starting to arrive, the weather is picking up and we’re all starting to think of spending the summer months in the sunshine. However, if you’re heading to one particular destination, then you need to make a vital check.

Kylie, who shares travel advice online, said there’s something important you need to know if you’re travelling to Turkey anytime soon. There are vital rules you need to follow when it comes to your passport.

The content creator, known as englandandeverywhere on TikTok, is known for sharing handy advice with tourists, and her latest is essential if you’re heading abroad. She explained all in a candid clip.

Basically, if you have a UK passport, there are specific entry requirements for Turkey. The country has a different set of rules that people need to be aware of.

Kylie read out the advice from the Government website, which states: “To enter Turkey, your passport must have an ‘expiry date’ at least 150 days after the date you arrive and at least 1 blank page. If you live in Turkey, your passport must be valid for 6 months from the date you arrive.

“If entering at a land border, make sure officials stamp and date your passport at the border crossing. Check with your travel provider that your passport and other travel documents meet requirements. Renew your passport if you need to.

“You will be denied entry if you do not have a valid travel document or try to use a passport that has been reported lost or stolen.”

She noted 150 days works out at around five months, so this is something people need to keep on top of. As well as this, she said countries “can turn you away” if you fail to have a blank page upon request.

It’s clear that some people didn’t know about the rule, as one person replied: “Travelling May 31 for two weeks, my passport runs out in August. Why haven’t the travel agents said anything?”

Another wrote: “We were in Turkey last week, and the wife only had 145 days left on her passport. Cost her £168 for a visa into Turkey.”

A third had a different take, writing: “A lot of countries want more, and no less, than six months left on your passport. Turkey and many more.”

Meanwhile, if you’ve been worried about the recent protests in Turkey, further travel advice has been issued about this too. Recent tensions in the region, stimulated by events in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories, have led to significant protests outside diplomatic missions connected with the conflict, particularly Israeli diplomatic missions in Ankara and Istanbul.

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has advised all UK tourists in Turkey to “avoid crowds and demonstrations” and also told people to “plan ahead” to limit travel disruption. Additionally, the government body warns: “FCDO advises against all travel to within 10km of the border with Syria due to fighting and a heightened risk of terrorism.”
